Year 10 History: Modern World, Modern Lives
Our Year 10's with Ms Jowitt are working on a VCE-styled extended investigation this term. Students have chosen some pretty fascinating topics to explore, such as:
- Jimi Hendrix as a cultural and music icon.
- How North Korea became a dictatorship in the 1950s.
- Queen Elizabeth II: figurehead or political leader?
- The connections between space exploration and the cold war in the 1960s.
- How participation in the workforce in WWII galvanised the feminist movement in Australia.
- Muhammad Ali: from sporting legend to civil rights leader.
- The significance of the leadership of Nelson Mandela in the anti-Apartheid movement.
- Was Marilyn Monroe a feminist?
- The importance of the ideas expressed in Martin Luther King Jnr's speech "I had a dream" in influencing civil rights globally.
