Intermediate Boys Basketball

The Intermediate Boys Basketball Team headed to the Northern Metro round robin and final on Wednesday 12th October.

The boys had convincing wins over Whittlesea and Lalor and were pushed before defeating Australian International Academy 39-20.

The final against St Helena was a tied game at half time, but sadly the boys couldn’t claw back the 10 points St Helena put on at the start of the second half.

Congratulations to our runner’s up team of Kristian R, Will P, Emmanuel M, Harry M, Andre C, Bailey L, Tommy M, Jack C and Aiden J.

Intermediate Girls Basketball

Girls intermediate basketball went to Northern Metro finals on Wednesday 12th October. The girls came second in their pool, winning 2/3 games and a 2 point loss in the third game.

Fantastic work to Sam H from Year 11 for coaching the girls and being very supportive and encouraging.

Great performances and effort overall, the students did Viewbank very proud.

State Track and Field Championships

On Monday, October 17, in picture perfect conditions, four VBC students competed at the State Track and Field Championships at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park.

Declan Loecx competed in the 13 boys 800m and 1500m, achieving sixth in each race.

Naomi Nicola competed in 17 girls Javelin (5th) and Discus (6th).

Poppy Scott-Dalgleish ran the 15 girls 1500m, achieving 6th overall.

And Eva Wilson entered into the 16 girls Discus, winning the event and setting herself a new personal best of 32.25m - beating her prior record by 2 metres.

Well done to all on your efforts - it doesn’t matter if you win or lose - you are amongst the best people in the state for your age group - that’s about 80,000 people!

Year 8 Girls Basketball

On Wednesday 19th October, the Year 8 Girls Basketball team competed at the Northern Metro Regional event.

After winning a tough pool round against Preston & Hazel Glen, the girls met up with St Helena in the final.

Unfortunately St Helena were too good on the day.

The team were fantastic all day and fought hard until the end!
