Art/Technology Showcase

Art/Technology Showcase

Last Friday night our Art and Tech Exhibition and STEAM showcase was a huge success. Our show was formally opened by ex Viewbank student and emerging contemporary artist Aisha Hara and Chris Manzie, Head of Electrical Engineering at University of Melbourne accompanied by Chris Madden , President, Friends of STEAM.

We also had Prof Faezah Marzbanrad of Monash University and Prof Gita Pendharkar of RMIT University attending the event.

We had the opportunity to celebrate the amazing work that our senior folio students have worked towards in their final year of study in both Art and Technology.

It was wonderful to see them proudly sharing their work and to see the admiration of the audience in a real exhibit style setting.

We would like to thank all our exhibitors and acknowledge the endless hours that go into the inquiry learning that takes place in all of these subjects.

The STEAM showcase included winning projects from Science Talent Search, Math Talent Quest, the Swinburne Space Program, and the Young Person's Plan for the Planet Program.

Isabella Pearson, Neha Hiremani, Dawson  Conceicao, Emil Haila, Xavier Philips, Neil Gu, Grace Payling, Audrey Jacques, Rupini Marimuthu, Isabella Madden, Pat Mehan and Vu Nguyen spoke well articulating with great confidence the key features of their projects and answering questions with great confidence.

The Year 12 Systems Engineering students demonstrated a range of mechatronics projects to all attendees.

Our new Year 7 Art and Design program which is an innovative hybrid Art and Technology program was also showcased on the night with Year 7 students enthusiastically chatting to visitors about the exciting projects they have been part of.

This included the Protein Data Bank Art Project that is a European initiative fusing science and art and the current Wearable Tech collaboration they are undertaking.

Year 7 students Isha Patel and Joanna Chan’s work was also celebrated as they won the Under 16 Best Artwork award.

You can visit the virtue exhibit here to see and hear about Isha and Joanna’s work.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aik4LN_HFM4
