Wow, what a show on Thursday Sept 1st.  Such incredible performances from all your schools and it was also wonderful to see so many parents there supporting their children.

Our St Mels students shone !!.  A big thank you to Robyn Banfield for all her work getting the children ready for the show.

New - Pyjama Day

What a great day we had on Friday in our PJ's.   Even looked so happy & comfy!

Thanks to Shivak in 1/2 CS who put a proposal letter into Chris to have our Pyjama day to raise money for those less fortunate than us.  The donations from Pyjama Day will start our fundraising efforts for Catholic Missions.  Catholic Mission, as the Australian agency of the Pontifical Mission Society contributes funding and provides project support to critical church-run initiatives in Africa, Asia, Oceania and South America as well as remote dioceses within Australia.

Catholic Mission creates opportunities for people to be formed in mission, and respond through prayer, fundraising and action, inspiring them to reach out, and give life—within Australia and around the world.  All of us engage in mission when we proclaim our faith through our words, actions and lives.

Our next fundraising event for Catholic Missions October Appeal will be our Footy Colurs Day on the last day of Term.   More details are in this newsletter.

In Mathematics the preps have been learning all about 2D and 3D shapes! They have been exploring the different attributes of the shapes such as the corners, sides and faces and learning how to differentiate between 3D shapes such as a cube, cylinder, sphere and cone. The preps began to notice all the different shapes in our classroom environment and categorised them accordingly. The preps also created 3D shapes using play dough and match sticks.

Grade 3/4 Lake Excursion

On 5th of September the 3/4 students of St Mel’s walked to the Shepparton Lake.  When we got to the lake we got split up into the 3/4 classes.  We ate our fruit.

While we were at the lake we had 3 different activities we were going to do that day - SAM, All Abilities Playground and a sport session. NW went to SAM then the sport session then All Abilities Playground. CW went to the sport session then SAM then All Abilities Playground. TB went to the All Abilities Playground then the sport session then SAM.

After that we had sausages for lunch and some food out of our lunch boxes.

We then had free play for a bit. We then walked back to school and that was the 3/4 lake excursion.

On our excursion to the Shepparton lake we went to do some fitness down at the aqua moves playground.

Then when we were finished we went down to the river and ate our food at the benches. When we finished with our food we saw some indigenous art at the Shepparton art gallery.

Later when we had been shown around in the art gallery we went for a walk to the park where we ate our lunch and then we had a little play afterwards.

When everyone was ready and had their bags and belongings we we’re ready to leave. When everyone had their bags and belongings we we’re ready to leave. It took around twenty minutes but we were finally back.

On the 5th of September the 3/4 unit of St Mel’s went on a excursion to the Shepparton Lake, we had to walk from St Mel’s to the lake. When we arrived at the lake we were split into class groups NW, CW, TB, and we had our fruit.

We were told that we had three different activities, such as walking to SAM and exploring. And we also walked to the All Abilities Playground, and we did a fitness workout. It was supposed to be done on the hill outside the playground but there was construction going on.

After a while we ventured back to where we ate our fruit and left our bags. And the teachers let us have some free play on the equipment next to the skate park. We played on the zip line, we played on the playground, some kids also played on the plain grass field.

I know that everyone loved our sausage sizzle, one of our 3/4 students had their dad cook our sausages for us, everyone enjoyed it!
