S3's Term 3 Adventures

In term 3 S2 went on lots of curriculum excursions. We have been to Werribee Plains Zoo, Camp at Narmbool Environmental Education Centre, Melbourne Museum to see the Tayama First Nations exhibition, Melbourne Museum to do the on line learning workshop on Climate change in Victoria and Immigration museum to find out about people’s stories. We also had two visits from Uncle Trevor as well as attending the Brimbank National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s day. We visited the local Melton City Council Youth Centre and last but certainly not least we participated in the pilot Circus movement program funded by Creative Arts Victoria and The Department of Education. MSS has been fortunate to have been chosen over many other hundreds of schools for this opportunity. Many classes across the school have attended.

Updates from the students

On the 27th of July 2022 I went to the museum in Sovereign Hill. We looked around the museum, there were lots of olden day things there. My favourite part about our first day of camp was going on a ride with the horses on the horse carriage. The horses were very pretty I wish I could have actually rid them but on their back instead of in the carriage.

On the next day of camp Narmbool, Thursday the 28th of July 2022 we went for a bush walk and the thing I learnt most was how to build an aboriginal shelter. We also did some games for exercise but aboriginal edition.

29th of July 2022, the last day of camp Narmbool we went to a farm very close to the accommodation and we also got to feed some sheep their names were Maggie, thing 1 and thing 2 and last but not least the cuddliest one George! After that we started to pack our bags and headed back to school and then when we arrived our parents picked us up and took us to home sweet home!

Day 1. We went to Sovereign hill for the day. We ate morning tea for a bit and then we did some activities for a bit. Then it was lunch. After lunch we went to look around for a bit and then we ate tea. The food was yucky. After tea we went to the night show, it was good. After the night show we went on the bus back to camp, it was late at night.

Day 2. We got up and had a shower. After that we went to breakfast and after that we went to see the birds. The hawk flew on my head. After that we went on a big bush walk, my legs were hurting. When we got to the cabin place, we learned some Aboriginal games and a lot more. After that finished, we walked back to the camp place and when we got back we ate afternoon tea. Then we watched tv for a bit, then we ate tea and went to bed.

Day 3. We got up and we had breakfast. After that we packed our stuff away and put it out side. When we did that, we walked to feed the sheep and then we walked back and we had morning tea. After that we played some games, then we packed the bus, we said good bye and then we left to go back to school.

Every Wednesday in term 3, S2 and S3 went to the Youth Centre in Melton. The youth centre is fun and it is cool. We had a chat with the youth workers and we learned about personal teenage hygiene like washing our hands and feeling good about ourselves. It was fun and I played pool and some games. Then we went to Woodgrove and it was fun. We had some lunch and then we want back to school.  The youth centre is fun. Thank you Jayden.

On Wednesday the 18th May Uncle Trevor came to the school to visit. When Uncle Trevor came in we sat down with him and we had a talk with him on how we are learning about people files. After that we had a talk about Aboriginal culture and then it was time for Uncle Trevor to go.  We all had fun with Uncle Trevor, and he will be back soon.
