Teaching and Learning with Ms Barnett

Hello families!

Welcome to the first newsletter item for Term 4. Teaching and learning is well underway here at TPS and this term teachers are excited to inquire into Mathematics, building our professional knowledge so that we can be the best teachers we can be for our students. As a school, we will delve into the big ideas of Mathematics (see graphic below) and the misconceptions or challenges that students can encounter at each developmental stage. 

Alongside this inquiry cycle, we will engage in another project, building our relationships and collaborating with other local schools to improve teacher practice in Mathematics. Together with Lethbridge PS, Napoleons PS and Inverleigh PS we will engage in a trial to support student growth and performance focusing on the Big Ideas. Students from different schools will form a Virtual Classroom as we work together to share best practice and learn from each other.
