STEM News

Roxy Fiedler is a year 5 student and came to visit our Year 1 STEM classes as a special guest.

She keeps bees at her home and had a lot of information to share with us.

Roxy told us the special way to put water out to help the bees and not to use poison sprays.

Roxy gave us all a taste of the honey that her bees made.

We learnt a lot about bees from Roxy.

Percussion Band

The Year 4/5 Percussion Band had its debut performance last week. The students practiced diligently before school and during their lunch breaks to present a selection of songs to their class.

Planting in the Quad

One day, while Room 30 were outside in the Quad area, we noticed that the wooden planters didn’t have any plants in them and weren’t very attractive! So, we decided to do something about it. We asked Mr. Grant if we could buy some plants and he thought that would be a wonderful idea. We also asked our Year 6 CAT Buddies for their help.

We got into nine groups and were assigned a planter that we would be responsible for. Using our maths and ICT skills, we measured the planters and researched suitable plants using the internet. Once we had selected our flowers and plants, we drew designs of what our planters would look like.

Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Harkins then went to Bunnings to purchase the plants. Soon it was time to start planting. We used our strength of teamwork and discussed where to position the plants and bulbs before placing them in the soil. David our groundsmen helped us too. We are very proud of our achievements, and will continue to take care of our planters. Next time you’re walking through the Quad have a look at how beautiful our planters are!

Room 4 News

Room 4 has been doing graphing in our maths lessons. They have enjoyed working with Maureen Hegarty and exploring the many different ways to collect information, interpret the data and then recording the data in different types of graphs.
