Primary Swimming Carnival

Congratulations to all of the students from Year 2-6 who participated in our Annual school swimming Carnival on Thursday night. It was great to see so many families and friends there who came along and supported our students. Results were as follows:

Lost Property

There was a number of items collected from the pool after last Thursday's Carnival. If your child is missing any items please ask them to go to the front office or see their classroom teacher. Some items include towels, goggles, odd shoes and odd sports socks.

Diocesan Swimming Carnival

The Diocesan swimming Carnival will be held on Thursday 23 February in Moree. Students who have qualified received notes yesterday. In order to qualify students had to come in the first 3 places overall and meet qualifying times put down by the Diocesan Sports Committee. 

Primary Sport

This week students from Year 3-6 will start class rotations through a variety of activities for sport. As part of the rotation each week, one class will be going Ten Pin Bowling at ‘Shake, Rattle and Roll’ and another will be heading to the Indoor Centre. This week it is 5/6M’s turn to go to Indoor ($3.50) and 3/4M will go bowling ($7.50). 

Diocesan Touch Trials

Sports trials for Diocesan Touch will take place this week at snack break. These trials are for individuals in Year 5 & 6 only and only 4-6 students can be selected for each sport. Team selections for these sports will take place later in the year. Individuals who are selected this week for Touch will receive notes at the end of the week.

Congratulations to Thomas Gibson and Hunter Hollis who broke records on the night. Tom broke two records: the 100m Freestyle record (1:04.12) previously held by Tim Leach from 1981 with a time of 1:02.74 as well as Tim's 50m backstroke record (34.40) also from 1981 with a time of 31.47.

Hunter broke Hannah Wales' 50m backstroke record (38.17) from 2015 with a time of 36.22. Congratulations Tom and Hunter.

 

School sport for the next two weeks will be novelty events at the pool. Students are reminded to bring $3 for entry, swimmers, towel, sunscreen and a water bottle. Students not swimming will be walking to the pool.
