A message from Peter

Ephesians 4:32: 'Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.'

Like many Endeavour parents, I spend significant time in the car transporting my children to or from school or to their various sporting or other after-school commitments.  This is a time I usually enjoy, even more so when they are awake!

Of late, I have also been enjoying those occasions when I find myself in the car alone. This quiet time to contemplate is often a stark contrast to my busy days. I have also been enjoying the opportunity to listen to a variety of podcasts. The latest series I am enjoying, called Educhange, consists of episodes covering interviews with educational change-makers from around the world. I am approximately ten episodes in and there is one thing that has struck me as a consistent string that weaves much of the rhetoric together. While each episode has a different theme or focus, with each expert discussing their views about educational changes from various perspectives, the common theme of relationships comes up again and again. It’s no surprise that in a people-focused industry, that relationships are at the centre; however, as educational changes and future-thinking often revolve around technology or the latest skill requirements for students to be successful in the workforce, we must not lose sight of the critical role relationships play in a successful education.

Interestingly, as Endeavour grapples with its own future, a new building and a Senior Years review, I feel encouraged that we remain true to keeping relationships at the core of what we do and who we are. Whether it be The Endeavour Way speaking into our philosophy statements or policy changes, or the rich conversations we have about the part Care Groups and Villages play into the life of a student, I feel confident that we are on the right track; one that prioritises WHO we teach just as much as WHAT we teach.

A farewell to Karen Kesby

Karen Kesby, currently the Director Senior Years and prior to that, the College's Pastoral Care Coordinator for 13 years, has sadly made the decision to retire at the end of Semester 1.

Karen has been a valued leader and teacher in our Endeavour College community for sixteen years. She has served in numerous leadership roles during her time at the College,  most notably as Pastoral Care Coordinator and Director of Senior Years.

Karen is excited about being able to spend more time with her family and pursuing her interests outside of our work environment, and we celebrate this with her.

We will farewell Karen at a College Assembly on Friday 21 June , prior to the Year 10 and 11 students’ exams. This will be an opportunity to acknowledge her commitment to education and her significant and enduring contributions to the College and indeed Lutheran Education over her time here and with the Lutheran system.

Sharon Ward has been appointed to the Acting Director of Senior Years position for Semester 2.  We congratulate Sharon on her appointment and look forward to the strong leadership she will provide during that time.  The Director of Senior Years position commencing in 2020 will be advertised in the coming weeks.
