Dookie Food & Fibre Expo

Dookie Food and Fibre Expo

On Friday the 24th of May, a group of students went to the Dookie agricultural show. We were able to choose from a variety of activities which included genetics, cattle, climate change, horses, transport, farming, food etc. In the transport activity, we learnt about how the tractors can steer themselves with the new technology that they have gotten. In the climate activity, we learnt about climate change and what we should eat each day; which is two meals of vegetables and one meal of salad. In the fly farming, we learnt about their life cycle. They only live for one year from an egg to an adult fly. At lunch time, we had a farm challenge where we raced other schools in teams of four. Someone had to start in the swag, they had to get out of the swag and quickly roll it up. Then we had to fill a 2 litre container with coloured water using a drenching gun. We moved to the next activity which was planting beans in a pipe with hay, after that activity we put some gloves on and moved hay bales and stacked them.  We then had to sort the animals into their breeds, after that we had to skull a bottle of water, and finally we had to unroll the swag and one person had to jump back into it.
