Principal's Report

Dear Parents,
REMINDER, NO HAT NO PLAY
NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY. ENJOY THE LONG WEEKEND AND HOPE YOU BACK A WINNER!
For 16 Days I walked in the footsteps of Jesus in the Holy Land. It was certainly a life changing experience and one that I will treasure. I thank the staff who were able to journey with me and to Sr Mary Raeburn who was our leader. The purpose of the visit was to make scripture alive and to reflect on the Gospel messages of justice, love, forgiveness and compassion. We experienced many memorable places and we have stories to tell. Over the next few weeks we will be doing a display in the foyer and we encourage you to come in and take a look. One of the highlights of the journey was meeting the Palestinian people in the West Bank who face difficulties in their daily lives. The staff came away with wanting to help these people and as a result all of our fundraising for charities in 2019 will be directed to the University of Bethlehem to provide a scholarship for a student in need. More information will follow in the new year.
It's only 2 weeks to our Concert. Children are very excitied to showcase their skills and talents. You would have received a letter detailing the event. Please help us by keeping to the times and making sure children are ready and in costume.
What a great success Walk to School day
was on Tuesday morning. My sincere thanks to the
teachers who were at the park and the
Bakery and a special thanks to Naomi and the SRC for organise yet again another event for our children. And a huge thanks to the staff for volunteering their time to be at the meeting points.
As you can imagine, we are now heading into the busy period of the year. Teachers are writing reports, Concert preparation, School Sports, Class allocations, Graduation and the list seems never ending. As a parent you can help by being visible in the classroom as a parent helper. This does not stop just because we are getting to the pointy end of the year, it is the most valuable thing you can do, so please consider helping out when you can.
A huge congratulations to Randa and Abdul Khaddour on the birth of a baby girl and sister to Jalal and Zain. Mother and baby doing well.
A reminder that the House Sports is on Friday 23 November at 5pm. You will receive a letter detailing the event next week, so look in those school bags every day!
Graduation for Year 6 children will take place on Thursday 13 December at 5.30pm. Mass and Awards should conclude by 7pm.
A huge congratulations to the 'NEWSPAPER' group on completing their first edition of the St Mary's News. The designers Angel and Leila, the interviewers Olivia, Gabby, Han, Mia, Anthony and Mateo, the sports interviewer Ilaria, puzzles by Steven and Sebastian, comics by Alec and jokes by Paddy and Riley, all led by Miss Naomi. The paper will go on sale for $1 and proceeds will go to a charity. Well done everyone!
