Deputy Principal Staff and Students Report

I think, as a community, we can see people getting tired and and in need of a break, but at the same time the term seems to have gone very quickly. As this term comes to an end, it is timely to say a big congratulations to out students for their work, effort, and support throughout Term 1. A special congratulations to our Year 7 students completing their first term of secondary school. It is also timely to say thank you to parents/guardians/carers for not only entrusting us with your children and allowing us the privilege of supporting you as the primary educators of your children, but also working together as a team for your children. We really value our families and are so grateful for your support.

Start of Term 2

As we look ahead to Term 2 a reminder of a few key points:

  • Classes commence for Term 2, 2023 on Wednesday 26 April 2023. This will be a Day 8 timetable.
  • Winter uniform is to be worn from the start of Term 2, 2023.
  • Blazers are to be worn to and from school with the winter uniform.
  • The details of the uniform are in the Student Organiser and attached with this article.
  • There will be an ANZAC Day Service on Wednesday 26 April 2023.
  • There will be an Easter Prayer Service to focus on the Resurrection of Jesus on Friday 28 April 2023.

A reminder that it is an expectation for all students to be in full school winter uniform on the first day of Term 2 (hair and piercings regulations included). There are almost three weeks between now and the start for students to get their uniform items organised so we look forward to seeing all students in their winter uniform their first day of Term 2, 2023.

Term 1 2023 and Easter Reflection

As we move towards the end of term we are in the most sacred of weeks for the Church – Holy Week. In this week we remember Jesus giving his life for us, suffering his passion, crucifixion, death and eventual resurrection. We can only imagine the joy of the disciples when they discovered their whole world had been turned upside down after Jesus’ death and Jesus was in fact alive. The resurrection is the ultimate expression of hope, but hope born from the most hopeless of situations a human can face.

As Christians we are people of joy and of hope. As we contemplate the end of term in this sacred week we are mindful of God’s love and providence. We give thanks for the opportunities, experiences, learning, living, friendships, achievements, challenges. Growth  etc that are a part of our Term 1 experiences. We are also aware that as humans maybe we did not live everything perfectly, maybe we have got areas to work on and grow in (this is true for all of us). As people of faith and hope we believe that there is always hope founded in Jesus and always the opportunity for new life. May we give thanks for the term that has been, but look forward with joy and hope that we can improve, there is opportunities for new life and growth, there is hope for us all.

Our students are blessed to have three weeks of holidays with a later start to Term 2, 2023 after ANZAC Day (Monday 24 April 2023 is a Staff Professional Day.  No students, no classes), and the early finish on Wednesday 5 April 2023 at 1.30 pm for the end of Term 1, and Student Progress Meetings, and Good Friday. We look forward to seeing students back in Term 2 after a good holiday.

I pray that the holidays are a restful, joyful and peaceful time for you and your family and I pray that the love, hope and joy of the resurrection of Our Lord fills your hearts and family as we celebrate Easter.

God Bless

Mr Justin Duckett
