What's Happening at CHPS

Sports News

And we're off to a flying start......

Kilsyth Basketball Clinic:

Last week, Jamie from Kilsyth Cobras conducted a Basketball Clinic for our Year 3 students, who have been participating in a Basketball unit this term. It was a great opportunity for them to showcase and consolidate their skills. Well done, Year 3s!

Senior Gala Day #1:

Last Tuesday saw the senior students compete against other schools in a range of sports for their first Interschool Sport Gala Day. It was an enjoyable day and a great experience for our students under the new format. Our teams had a mixture of results throughout the day, and will go towards the next Gala Day, which we are looking forward to on March 27th (week 9). Thank you to all staff and parent helpers who volunteered their time to supervise, score and umpire games. We really appreciate your support. If you're interested and available to assist at the next Gala Day, please email Robert.Lewis@education.vic.gov.au

Hawthorn Visit:

Last Friday 3rd March, amongst the happy snaps of school photos, some classes were able to attend a Q & A presentation from some up and coming Hawthorn players. It gave students an insight into an AFL players (early playing career) and the commitment, dedication, injuries and broken bones as well a passion and player friendships in a sport they love. Students were amazed by how tall they were and thrilled to have a photo and an autograph. Thanks to the AFL pathways program for offering this free opportunity for our students!

Team Vic Girls Cricket Trials:

Last week, CHPS had two students represent our school at the Team Vic Girls Cricket Trials. Congratulations to Jasmine (SED) and Pippa (SKF) on your fantastic efforts! We wish Jasmine the best of luck as she has progressed through to the next stage.

Ride2School Day:

Friday 24th March (week 8)

National Ride2School Day is Australia’s biggest celebration of active travel and one of the best days on the school calendar. Let’s discover the joy of riding and kick-start healthy habits for the future.

Students can ride, scoot, skate or walk to school on this day.

Students in Prep – Year 3 must be accompanied by an adult and all riders are required to wear a helmet. You can park and leave your bike or scooter at school for the day in the following areas:

From 8:30am

Prep-2 – Turf area (sections will be set up)

Year 3-6 – Bike shed and senior courtyard area (sections will be set up)

Students will be able to write their name and class on a tag and attach it to their bike for easy recognition.

Calling All Green Thumbs

Charlie's Greatest Shave

Don't forget to get on board with Charlie from SKF, as he has his Greatest Shave to support the Leukaemia Foundation, next Friday, March 17th at Assembly.

Students can join him by donating - read the Principal's Page or scan the QR code for more information.

From Sophie in Sickbay

It has been a week of falls, trips and children presenting with non-specific 'sore tummy' complaints at Sickbay, all of which are a pointer to students becoming tired as the term progresses.

Please remember the importance of a good night's sleep and an 'early to bed' routine, particularly on school nights.  Injury and illness can often be avoided by ensuring your child has enough sleep and with four more weeks still to go before the holidays, a good night's sleep is more important than ever.
