Prep 2024

The Department of Education have introduced a new process for Foundation (Prep) enrolment in all Victorian government schools. If you have a child born on or before 30 April 2019, they are eligible for entry to Prep in 2024.

If you have a child starting primary school next year:

  • ‘Foundation (Prep) Enrolment Information Pack for Parents/Carers for the 2024 school year', including application form, available from the start of Term 2 – collect from our School Office or download from the EHPS website.
  • Submit an enrolment application for Foundation (Prep) by Friday 28 July.
  • Parents/guardians will be notified of the outcome of their application by Friday 11 August. If an offer of placement is received, the offer should be accepted and enrolment documentation lodged by Friday 25 August.
  • Transition Program for Prep 2024:
    • Session 1:  Maths – Thursday 5 October from 9.15am to 10.45am.
    • Session 2:  Specialist – Wednesday 18 October from 9.15am to 10.45am
    • Information Evening for families of enrolled children:  Tuesday 31 October.
    • Session 3:  Literacy – Tuesday 14 November from 9.15am to 10.45am.
    • Session 4:  Orientation Day – Friday 1 December from 9.15am to12.30pm with 2024 Prep team.
  • Start of 2024 School Year (expected; subject to confirmation with enrolment) - Children will start Foundation (Prep) from Wednesday 31 January 2024 (the first two days of Term 1 at EHPS are student-free days), attending a compulsory one hour interview at school with their teacher at the start of the term (interviews are scheduled over the first five or six school days of Term 1). The children’s first day at school is in week two; for the first six or seven days at school their school day finishes at 2.30pm. Children will commence full time (8.50am to 3.30pm) in week three.
  • Enrolment applications submitted after 28 July 2023 will be processed by the school as they are received, in accordance with the Department of Education Placement Policy.

If you have a child commencing primary school in 2024, we ask that you collect an information pack and application form early in Term 2 and submit your application. Demand for placement at EHPS continues to be highly sought after, so if you live in the EHPS zone and/or your child will have an older sibling enrolled at EHPS in 2024, you have priority placement and we need to take this into acount as early as possible.

If you have family, friends or neighbours who have a child who will start primary school in Prep in 2024, please encourage them to book a tour now, and collect the information pack, including the application form, at the beginning of Term 2 and lodge an application form as soon as possible if EHPS is their preferred school.
