Welcome to St Joseph’s College Resource Centre
Have you had a chance to walk through our Library recently? The Library staff have been so busy putting up some great, eye-catching displays and new book collections to spark the interest of all readers!
Also, you may have noticed some excellent St Joseph’s Library information booklets floating around in classes or Reading Room tubs. These booklets are a fantastic resource for students to get a greater understanding of the different genres throughout the library and books that fit these genres. Referring to this booklet will help avid readers move from one collection to another by following books of similar narratives via the genre recommendations. Here is a direct link to the online document St Joseph's Library Information Booklet.
As we all know, the AFL season has kicked off, and here in the Library, we know many of our readers just love looking for books centred around sport.
Next time you venture in the doors, check out the sport book collection on display, featuring biographies, autobiographies, narratives and information texts - all about our amazing Australian Football League and its players!
Did you know that each year hundreds of books are banned by libraries all over the world? The St Joseph’s Library are challenging some rebellious opinions and putting out a special ‘Banned Book’ Collection for all students to peruse! Many classics that would surprise you are on the list of books that have been banned for various reasons, including racial content, identity, and religious belief. Some of the books we have available, which are contraband in certain libraries in the US, are regularly part of Australian high school study lists eg. To Kill A Mockingbird, The Hunger Games and Lord of the Flies.
Do you dare to enter the world of ‘Banned Books’?
