From the Principal
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported our children on their trip to the zoo. The children had a wonderful time and learned so much. I am still not sure whether they were more excited about the animals at the zoo or the double decker bus that arrived to transport everyone.
I would also like to thank everyone who has made contributions towards our Harpori Friday project learning. From zips and ribbons, to eggs, flour and icing sugar, to wood and other building materials, everything is much appreciated.
Swimming Carnival
Tomorrow (Friday) is our swimming carnival. This is a fun afternoon where the children try out their swimming skills and have fun in the water.
We intend to start at 1.30pm and would love as much parent support as possible.
Please make sure that you send togs and at least two towels with your child.
Biathlon
Our biathlon takes place on Thursday 6 April at 1.30pm. Each child starts in the pool and then runs around our fields.
Assembly Cancelled
Due to all the events that are happening at school at the moment, we have decided to cancel assembly on Friday 31 March. Our next assembly day is on 26 May which is also our Book Character day.
Promethean Digital Screens
A huge shout out to the Dragon Community Trust and Active Vision for organising a grant to provide two new digital screens. We would never have been able to access this modern technology without their support.
Trampoline
A member of the Paremoremo community donated a trampoline to the school at the time of lockdown. We have finally managed to install it safely and the children have put together a set of rules.
- Only one person on at a time
- No shoes
- Do not put anything on the trampoline
- 20 jumps when someone else is waiting for a turn
- Wait at the bottom of the ladder
We know that jumping on a trampoline is a wonderful way for our neuro-diverse students to self-regulate. We are trialing the use of the trampoline. If you have any opinions you would like to contribute, please email me on principal@ridgeview.school.nz .
Strategic Goals and Annual Plan
Every year the school has to put together our Strategic Goals and Annual Plan which is then submitted to the Minstry of Education.
This year, we have taken the work of the Board and the SAF team (Student Achievement Function team), as well as parent voice from our consultation and student voice from talking to our children, and formed what I believe to be a pertinent and exciting direction for our school.
There will be a copy on our website within a couple of days, but I am happy to email you a copy on request.
Teacher-only Day
Please note that Monday 24 April is a teacher-only day. All staff members will be at a conference at ASHS. Tuesday 25 April is ANZAC Day, so school will only open for Term 2 on Wednesday 26 April 2023.
School Readers
We are still missing a number of our reading books. Please could you make sure that your child returns all of the school reading books.
Lost Property
We are being inundated with lost clothing, shoes and swimming togs. Please could you check if your child is missing anything and take it back. We still have some things from last year which we are going to give away.
