Japanese

Year 8 Japanese began the year with a focus on learning Hiragana. Students worked hard to master the 46 symbols and are now able to read words and short sentences written totally in Japanese. With culture playing such an important role in language, the students are now undertaking an adventure around Japan to discover famous locations, popular food and pastimes and some interesting Japanese activities. Every third lesson has been designated as an “Amazing Race” lesson and students work in teams to complete a number or language and other activities for points.

Communicating confidently in Japanese has been a focus for Year 10 as they have been learning how to invite friends to do different activities. Yr 12 have been focusing on topics around living in Japan, learning different language structures associated with the cultural arts and sharing information about what they’d like to do in Japan.
