Divisional Swimming

Congratulations to all the students who took part in the Greater Dandenong Division Swimming Competition last week.  Resurrection, once again, were the best represented school at the competition and came away with lots of ribbons.  A special congratulations to Leah who made it through to the Regional Swimming in Back stroke and Butterfly, which was also a Division Record.

'My name is Leah and I’m here to tell you about divisional swimming. At divisional swimming there were quite a few of us that made the team. Only one of us made it through to regionals and that was me. On the 12-13 girls there was Leah, Jasmine, Jemima, Tayla, Julia and Linda. 12-13 boys were only Diesel but the 11 boys helped Diesel out; they were Stefan, Jacob and Alexander. The 11 girls were Alexa, Sydney, Charlotte, Sofia. The 9-10 boys were Oscar, Noah, Aiden And Jacob. The 9-10 girls were Holly, Alyssa, Alana, Chloe. In total 20 people were there altogether that attended.

On behalf of all the swimmers we would like to give a big thank you to Mrs Edwards for coaching and helping us through it, we would also like to thank all the parents that came and helped or just watched us and cheered us on. We had lots of fun and really enjoyed our races. Thank you for your time.'

Build and Play Club

We have started a new club in school which is aimed (initially) at the Grade 1 and 2 students.  It a place where children can build, imagine and PLAY.  There are no instructions or teaching going on and no rules (accept for our RESKEYS of Respect, Responsibility and Resiliance). It is a place for the children to create, build, play imaginativly and just be themselves!  Studies have shown that play builds key aspects of childrens Brain development as well as being a healthy lifestyle activity it also grows confidence in young people as well as helps connects individuals and communities.

"This club was made for year 1s & 2s but we might add some more grades.

For some grades to have some experience with nature and crafting so we gathered random materials and none that can hurt someone for the kids to play with.  There are 2 year 6s and 1 teacher to help and keep watch.

We also bring out equipment like play tunnels and sandpit toys.  We made a cubby house for them to play in."
