Year 8 Volleyball

On Tuesday 7 March, eleven Year 8 students represented the College at the Volleyball Victoria Beach Schools Cup. The students made up two different teams and each team played against 3 different schools in their respective pools.

The first team, made up of Archie D, Rhys F, Toby G, Angus M, Logan A and Harvey W, faced tough competition and were able to win 1 out of their 3 games. They continually improved throughout the day and were competitive in each match.

The second team were able to win 2 out of their 3 games in the pool which allowed them to progress to the knockout stage of the tournament. The team then proceeded to win their next 2 knockout games to qualify for the Semi-Final.

Coming up against McKinnon in the semi-finals, the team was able to demonstrate their great teamwork which allowed them to win many key points. The match went to the third and decisive set and unfortunately the opposition proved too strong for Beaumaris. The team had a great run, finishing 3rd overall out of a total of 32 teams.

The team consisted of Arlie H, Harvey B, Jake L, Nate M and Wes M.

Well done to all students involved for a successful day and participating in Beaumaris Secondary College’s inaugural Beach Schools Cup.
