School Spirit

Thursday of week 5 saw two big events in the school Calendar take place. The day started with the World’s Greatest Shave including students from 7-12 who both participated and or observed a live auction of some brave Year 12 students and Mr Fahey and Mr Smith.

It was fantastic to have so much student involvement resulting in over $30,000 being raised for the Leukemia Foundation. A big thanks to our Student Representative Council Sophia Hanson and Jack McDonald for their leadership.

The afternoon saw the running of our second whole school colour run. Building off the success of last year, there was much anticipation and hype for all involved. The day came together remarkably well, as students from Prep through to Year 12 enjoyed the splash of water and colour across the course. The course was intentionally made more complex this year and gave the students a range of challenges to complete throughout the run. A huge thank you to the P&F for pulling this all together. There are many moving parts with an event like this, so the efforts of parent volunteers were critical. One of the biggest highlights of the Colour Run was witnessing the interaction between our oldest and youngest students; the Year 12 students guided the Kindergarten and Prep students around the course. It was a great fundraiser for the P&F and a great day of school spirit.

During Week 4, Year 7 and Year 9, both had wonderful times on expedition. For Year 7 many friendships were formed as they completed various challenges over a few days. The giant swing and leap of faith were particular highlights. Meanwhile, Year 9 had their eyes opened to the heart of Sydney. The Year 9’s had the opportunity to camp at Cockatoo Island, walk to Bondi Beach and complete a fantastic race catching public transport around the city (including a ferry to Manly and back). Both expeditions were an excellent opportunity for our students to connect stronger as a year group and be pushed out of their comfort zone.
