Year 10 Work Experience
25-29 June
If you child has returned their Work Experience forms to Ms. Molloy in the JRC, we would like to thank you. If your child has not yet started looking for a placement could you please make sure they start as soon as possible. Places will quickly fill up as time goes on. Important dates are listed below:
Work Experience Week
25 – 29 June 2018
Work Experience Arrangement form
and Travel Arrangement forms
due back 16 March 2018
All forms are to be handed in to the JRC.
Students will be doing their Industry Modules during Term 2. Once all documents have been signed by Mr Albiston, we will then prepare packs which will be sent home with your child and a separate pack will be sent to the employer. This will occur in early June 2018.
If your child is struggling to secure a placement during work experience week, they have been advised that they can do their placement in either the July or September school holidays. They will receive the last week of Term 2 as a holiday in lieu of giving one week of their holidays.
Myself and the JRC staff will be available to assist with any questions at recess or lunchtime.

Human Powered Vehicles
Each year Frankston High School enters multiple teams in the Human Powered Vehicles (HPV) Grand Prix Series. These events are competed in by secondary schools across the State, racing multiple distance courses. We are seeking interest from students in Years 7-9. The successful applicants will have multiple compulsory training sessions on Sunday afternoons. For more information on the HPV series please visit the following website http://vichpvseries.org.au/
If you are interested in becoming a part of the FHS HPV team or have any further questions, please email our HPV Coordinator Elizabeth Nicol enicol@fhs.vic.edu.au
Recycling Bins have moved for a few months!
The Eco Team has been successful in combining strengths with Southern Cross Recycling (SCR) who have been kind enough to supply us with a unique type of recycling bin, one which allows for many more things to be recycled from both within and outside of school that students, parents, teachers and members of the community might not have considered before. The recycling hub has recently been moved to the Senior School car park area due to building works on the Junior side. The bins are easily recognisable due to their colouration and sheer size.
Items that you can put in these bins include plastic toys, small electrical items including home hardware appliances, mobile phones, clothes, accessories, footwear and kitchenware. The bins enable easy access to recycling, but also raise funds that will go towards environmental projects at the school. Not only are we making a difference, but we are also fundraising for a very worthy cause.
The Eco Team is optimistic that the bins will be used properly and consciously, so we hope that people take advantage of this positive tool that we have been able to access, especially as it is the Eco Team’s sole responsibility. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Eco Team, and spread the word throughout the community that the bins are there for everybody to use!
