Jazz Big Band Workshop

Deepening our appreciation of Jazz Music

 The Instrumental Music Program was excited to welcome John Morrison to school recently, to run a jazz big band workshop with our Inter Stage band. John is a well-known Australian drummer, who has performed with many famous musicians and bands. It was a great opportunity for the students to learn from a professional musician and gain valuable experience playing in a big band setting.

Jazz is a complex and exciting genre of music that requires a lot of skill and practice to master. The workshop covered topics such as improvisation, rhythm, and ensemble playing, which are all essential skills for jazz musicians. Overall, this workshop was an excellent opportunity for the band to learn and grow as musicians, and to develop a deeper appreciation for jazz music.
