Principals Report

Every day Matters

Welcome

Welcome to a new year at Homestead Senior Secondary College. After only three weeks of term one, it is very pleasing to see all of our students so well adjusted to learning already. I am particularly pleased with how well our Year 10 students have transitioned to their new, young-adult learning environment.

As previously communicated, Michael Fawcett is on leave in 2022. As the foundation Assistant Principal of Homestead I am now very excited to lead the college in the capacity of Principal.

The Newsletter

This is the first edition of Homesteads new look newsletter. Currently the name is just "Homestead Newsletter" however we are keen to have community input on the name.

The future is great

2022 will have its challenges as we continue to navigate through the pandemic however there is a real buzz around the college with three year levels for the first time. Students are well and truely ready to put the previous two years into the past.

This year the college will continue to work hard to support students socially and academically but a great emphasis will be on ensuring that our students have access the programs we missed out on as a new, small school restricted by pandemic restrictions. We are looking forward to our first athletics carnival, performing arts club, inter-school sports, debating and much more.

New Leaders

I am pleased to announce that Bec Collins and Victoria Turner-Craig have been successful in taking on the roles of Assistant Principal in 2022.

This promotion has opened up other leadership opportunities. I am also pleased to announce that Candice Smith and Ana Jovel are now in the positions of Acting Leading Teacher of Student Engagement and Student Wellbeing respectively. Tim Harris and Luke Duskovic have taken on the roles of Year 10 and Year 11 Student Managers. Congratulations and thanks to all who have stepped up this year.
