St Simon the Apostle 2022 Year 3 to 6 Camp News

Camps provide a perfect setting for your children to build confidence, independence, responsibility, team work and resilience as part of the school curriculum. We are excited and in hope of these camps going ahead as planned. Operoo permission forms will be sent out shortly with further information for the Year 6 and Year 3 camps in Term 1.

Year 3 Camp - Wombat Corner, Emerald : 

                            Monday 28th March 2022

Year 4 Camp-  Camp Wyuna, YMCA Queenscliff : 

                             Tuesday 26th April 2022 - Wednesday 27th Apr 2022 

(please be aware this is the first two days back in Term 2 after the public holiday. Preparation for this camp will be done in Term 1)

Year 5 Camp- Alexandra Adventure Resort : 

                          Monday 30th May 2022 - Wednesday 1st June 2022

Year 6 Camp- Camp Coolamatong Farm Camp- Lake Entrance : 

                           Tuesday 15th March 2022 - Friday 18th March 2022

St Simon the Apostle 2022 Swimming Program

It is the school's intention to ensure our students learn skills that are required for them to safely enjoy water-based activities in aquatic environments. Our St Simon the Apostle Swimming program dates have been altered for this year and are listed below. All programs will be at Paul Sadler Swimland, Rowville with qualified trained instructors. 

Year 3 and Year 4 Swimming Program:  Monday 21st February 2022 - Friday 4th March (10 day program from Monday to Friday)

Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 Swimming Program: Monday 5th September 2022- Friday 16th September (10 day program from Monday to Friday)

In addition, the Year 5 students will be involved in the Open Water Lifesaving Education Program on Wednesday 23rd February. 

The full day of learning creates ‘Everyday Lifesavers’ out of our students, by teaching them practical and engaging water safety, lifesaving and emergency response skills. The OWLE program is designed to empower students to make safe aquatic related decisions while enjoying their local waterway. This year the setting of our program will be at Hampton LifeSaving Club on Hampton’s forebeach.

Operoo permission forms with information for these programs will be sent out very soon.

 St Simon the Apostle 2022 Swimming Team

Based on last year's timed swimming trials, we congratulate all swimmers who have made the St Simon the Apostle Swimming team.

The date of the Interschool District Swimming Carnival on Friday 18th February 2022. 

Training sessions will be held to prepare each competitor for this event and in hope they progress onto the Division level. This year's training session will be at Dandenong Oasis Pool in an attempt to train our squad members to swim the 50m distance confidently.

The dates of these training session are as follows:

Wednesday 9th February 

Friday 11th February 

Tuesday 15th February 

Thursday 17th February 

An Operoo permission form with dates, times and additional information for the District Swimming Carnival will be sent out this week. The team is listed in the attached document below. 

St Simon the Apostle 2022 Swimming Squad

*Teams are subjective to change and competitors substituted accordingly based on the timed trials

An Operoo form with information of the District Interschool Swimming Carnival will be sent out shortly. Dates for the morning training sessions (7:00am to 8:00am) will be advised in this form.

If any students are unable to attend due to illness or COVID based reasons, please contact Mr Karl Camerino as soon as possible so a replacement emergency competitor can be arranged.

EMERGENCY COMPETITORS LIST

Emergency competitors listed below will be used in the event a student is ill or unavailable to attend the District Swimming Carnival. These will be at the discretion of the Interschool Sport Coordinator. Payment for the event is only required if you are listed in the St Simon the Apostle 2022 Swimming Squad on the previous page.
