Other Appointments

Mr Shane Bailey has been appointed as KLA Leader – PDHPE at Mater Dei Catholic College commencing January, 2014. Over the last 18 months, Mr Bailey has served the College as KLA Leader of Religious Education and demonstrated a sound balance between care, curriculum and pedagogy. Furthermore, Mr Bailey is currently engaged in study for his Masters In Education at Charles Sturt University. We are fortunate to appoint someone of his calibre to the role.

Mr Mark Gilham has been appointed as KLA Leader – Religious Education at Mater Dei Catholic College commencing January, 2014. Mark commenced at the College in 2009 and has served as KLA Leader – Vocational Education Training in 2010, 2012 and 2013.  In that role Mark has been exemplary in leading VET teachers and students to maximise learning outcomes. Mark’s qualifications include:·         

- Graduate Certificate in Theology – University of Newcastle. Due for completion December 2014.

·  Master of Education (Educational Leadership) Charles Sturt University, 2012.

·  Graduate Certificate ICT Education, 2007.

Mark’s recent leadership experience, long standing commitment to being a learner, and deep understanding of what it means to be educated in a Catholic setting, ensures the College will benefit from his appointment.

Mr Michael Kanck has been permanently appointed as KLA Leader – Vocational Education and Training at Mater Dei Catholic College commencing January, 2014. Michael commenced as a teacher at the College in 2005 and his qualifications include:·         

- Bachelor of Education specialising in Technical and Applied Studies (TAS)

- Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.

·  An Engineering Trade Qualification and a Diploma in Engineering.

Michael’s ongoing leadership experience, his long standing experience with VET and his willingness to build upon the good progress of the VET KLA, ensures the College will benefit from his appointment. 

Miss Emily Paul has been appointed as Carroll House Leader at Mater Dei Catholic College for the 12 months of the 2014 school year. Since Emily's arrival at the College in July of 2012, her great work in the classroom and positive relationships with students, has served as an excellent example for us all. Her previous experience with the Support Based Learning at Radford College, Canberra means Emily is well placed to assist the College further explore the relationship between care and learning.

Mrs Margaret Davies has accepted the limited term appointment as Curriculum Resource Assistant in the Resource Centre at Mater Dei Catholic College for Terms 1, 2 and 3 of this year. Margaret has an extensive background as a music teacher and then made the transition as a Librarian for the last few years. Those skills will serves her well in her new role at the College.

Mrs Marney Hart has accepted the limited term appointment as Teacher of PDHPE – 0.2 FTE Job Share at Mater Dei Catholic College for the 2014 school year. Marney is well known to us at Mater Dei as she has served in various limited term positions in recent times. Previously, Marney has taught at Weald Middle School, London and Marian Catholic College, Griffith.

Leave Replacements

Miss Rachel Posselt has been temporarily appointed to replace Nathan Carroll who is on leave for the first 7 weeks of this term.

Mrs Fran Lieschke replaces  Genelle Keough who is on leave for the first 2 weeks of this term.

Mrs Kate Lenehan replaces Nicole Lane who is on leave for Weeks 2 & 3 of this term.

Mrs Cindy Murphy and Kaylene Murphy

 replace Di Curtis who is on leave for the first 2 weeks of this term.

Staff Contacts for 2014

Phone calls are answered at the Office and re‐directed through the school. If the person you wish to talk to is teaching or otherwise unavailable, a written message is given to that person. If you would like an appointment with a staff member you do need to telephone to organise this. Staff are willing to meet people at short notice, but their first responsibility is to be in class with our students, your children.
