Think before you post online

People may behave differently online than they do in person. The large audience is invisible, so many feel protected by their screens. This can be a positive thing, like someone feeling more confident to open up and be themselves. But sometimes people will misuse social networks to shame and bully others.

Unfortunately, students are not exempt from online bullying and things which happen online are often brought into the School environment. Posting online is instant, public and more often than not, permanent. Once you post, you lose control of what happens to it. It only takes one friend to share it on their own profiles for it to be completely out of your hands.

Understanding cyberbullying can help parents to support their child to stay safe online. Kidshelpline offer great information and resources for parents, young adults, teens and even kids. https://kidshelpline.com.au/parents/issues/cyberbullying

Sexuality Education Program Years 4-6

As part of our Pastoral Care program and the NSW Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) curriculum for Years 4 to 6, we have engaged the services of Kelly Nash and Cath McCallig to provide our Sexuality Education programs in 2022. Both Kelly and Cath have worked closely with MAG for these sessions over the last eight years. They will deliver age appropriate information about the physical, social and emotional changes at puberty for each class. These sessions will take place in classrooms on Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 February.

Parents are invited to attend two information sessions.

  1. The Sex Ed Parent Information Session will be on Monday 21 February from 7:00pm to 8:00pm via zoom. It provides an opportunity to discuss the rationale and content of the Sexuality Education programs that will be delivered to your child/ren.
  2. The ‘Mother and Daughter’ information session will be conducted on Tuesday 22 February from 7:00pm to 8:00pm via zoom. This session has been designed specifically to help prepare girls for physical and emotional changes of puberty and menstruation.

More information will be shared with parents in the near future.

Student Hats

Since returning to school, a large number of students come to the Primary School office each day to borrow a student hat because they have either left theirs at home or they have lost theirs. Being a SunSmart School means that students who do not have a hat are required to remain under the verandah during recess and lunch. Parents are encouraged to label their child’s hat to ensure that when a hat is found, it can be returned to its owner promptly. Parents can purchase a replacement hat in both the Primary School office and the uniform shop.

Kind Regards,

Thank you to Coles for donating our snazzy new SAKG aprons - they look very professional! And they were just what was needed for making some very delicious scones, jam and cream.
