Mock Trial

The College Mock Trial team, made up of Year 10 and Year 11 students, made their way to the Tangara School for Girls at Cherrybrook to contest the second Elimination Round. Sadly, our boys were beaten in a very close encounter and as such, their season has ended. Despite the disappointment of last week’s loss, each member of the team, including Old Boy coaches Christian Habib and James Herberstein, are to be commended on an outstanding season. The team finished in the top 16 Schools across NSW and I cannot recall any of our Mock Trial teams having had such a successful season in the past 25 years.

Senior School Winter Sport Photos

Parents/carers are advised that the Senior School Winter Sports photos will be taken on Thursday 15 September in the College Hall. Boys will be informed of the photo timetable via their homeroom noticeboards.

I would kindly ask that parents/carers ensure that their son’s Winter Sports gear is clean and in good condition for the photos. Details relating to the purchasing of photos online will be forwarded to parents/carers via the Especean soon. Please note that under no circumstance are boys to borrow gear from other boys if they have forgotten their own playing uniform. Boys will simply not take part in the photo if they have forgotten their gear. Parents/carers are advised that they will not be allowed to leave sports uniforms at Reception in the event their son forgets his gear.

Driver Needed

The College is seeking a suitably qualified driver who could assist with the transportation of the College’s sporting teams to training sessions offsite of an afternoon. Suitable applicants should have the correct licence (Light Rigid) that would enable them to drive both the 24-seater and 14-seater mini-buses along with a current Working with Children Clearance number.

Interested parties should forward their expression of interest by 3:00 PM Friday 16 September to Mr Calavassy and me via email: anthony.clavassy@spc.nsw.edu.au and steven.fochesato@spc.nsw.edu.au.

Senior School Winter Sports Presentation Evenings

Parents/carers and boys are reminded that the Senior School Winter Sports Presentation Evenings will be held at the following times in Week 9:

DateEventTimeVenue
Wednesday 14 September

Secondary Football

Presentation Evening

7:15 PMGymnasium
Thursday 15 September

Secondary Tennis

Presentation Evening

7:15 PMRobson Auditorium
Thursday 15 September

Secondary Rugby

Presentation Evening

7:15 PMGymnasium

Attendance by all students involved with these activities is a clear expectation. Any requests for leave should be forwarded to Mr Fochesato or Mr Calavassy.

In terms of parking, the College requests that no one parks their car in Hydebrae Street (which runs at ninety degrees from Francis Street and the Senior Library) at any time. Its narrowness makes resident parking difficult and non-resident parking can present a safety risk by preventing the access of emergency vehicles. Due to the current building work taking place and lack of parking on the ‘old tennis courts’, I would encourage parents/carers and students to carpool where possible.

Please note that the aim is to have the Presentation Evenings conclude by no later than 9:30 PM. Given that, please organise transport arrangements in accordance with this time, particularly when it comes to picking up your son/s.
