INSPIRING CURIOUS MINDS

Over the last few weeks, I’ve had the privilege to meet, one on one, with our staff. The passion that the staff have for this community was a resounding thread throughout the conversations. When I spoke to some of our students about the positive aspects of our school, they told me that the care and responsiveness shown by the teachers is something that they cherish. It seems South Melbourne Park is not only a place where children love to be but also a school where our staff love to be. It’s been lovely getting to know our families who have also expressed their love of this school. Together, this feels like a pretty great recipe for a community to flourish.

FAREWELL DAVE

As I asked questions of our staff, it came to light that there are only a handful of original staff members who have been here since 2019. One of those members is Dave Webb. Next week, Dave, with his partner, Sophie and their son, Josh, are making a move to Sydney. I know that Dave has very much loved having the opportunity to be part of building this school community. We’re sad to see him go but thankful for his many contributions. We wish Dave and the family a wonderful time and look forward to their return in the future.

DARE TO LEAD

This week, our Professional Learning Community (PLC) leaders, our Learning Specialists, Matt and I were engaged in some professional learning around daring leadership, led by Rob Csoti. Building the leadership understanding of our staff is an important way to develop their leadership capacity and in turn, foster cohesive teaching teams.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers for supporting the Bunnings BBQ. Your efforts are appreciated! I’m looking forward to our next fundraiser. There are still tickets available but be quick! I’m tossing up between coming as a disco ball or a light-up dance floor! Decisions. Decisions.

ENROLMENTS OR MOVING

A reminder to let the office know if your family will not be at South Melbourne Park next year. We’re already in the planning phase for 2023 and this information is very helpful. If you have a Prep starting, please ensure your enrolment form is in.
