Book week - Literacy Day

On Thursday 25 August, we will be celebrating book week with special whole school literacy activities.  We invite students to dress up as their favourite book character to really immerse themselves in the fun theme of the day.

Following this on 25 August, we have a parent / carer MPS curriculum information session planned for 7-8pm online.  Our Literacy Leader, Lisa Mackney and Numeracy Leader, Alec Baroni will facilitate the session and share the literacy and numeracy programs and structures that we use across the school. We will also provide activities that families can use to help develop children’s literacy and numeracy skills around the home.  Please join in the session through this link: https://eduvic.webex.com/eduvic/j.php?MTID=m3aaa95eee89d27f7f024fe4ace655a1d

Numeracy Day

On Thursday 18 August, we have a special whole school numeracy day planned for students to work in teams to engage in some fun hands on inquiry mathematic problem solving activities.

Student Led Learning Conferences

On Thursday 8 September, 2-7pm, we will have Student Led Learning Conferences. Students will present their learning portfolio and through this share their learning journey, highlights and learning goals.   Parents/carers can book a 15 minute conference through Compass from week 7.  We will send out a Compass post when bookings become open.

First Aid Notification through Compass

From next week we will use a Compass Sick Bay communication tool.  When a student visits the sick bay, the staff member attending to the student will enter the injury/illness details on Compass.  The primary parent/carer will then be sent a Compass app/email notification to view the injury/illness details.  We will continue to phone parents/carers for all higher level injuries and illness.

Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey

WE WANT OUR PARENTS/CARERS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/carers think of our school. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

While previously a random sample of approximately 30 per cent of parents/caregivers/ guardians have been selected to participate, this year, all families are invited to participate in the survey.

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 16th September.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.

I will send out an email on Monday 15th August with the online link to access the survey.
