Music Camp

On Thursday the 21 July, two buses full of music teachers and students from years 8 to 12 departed for Music Camp. Once departed, the two buses and a truck full of music equipment made their way to our destination, Camp Oasis in Mount Evelyn. 

Once we got there, the first task was to unload the buses of our luggage and equipment followed by the year 12 students helping unload the truck.  Everyone excitedly got their luggage and headed for our shared rooms. The cabins were separated into different areas with different names for each area. There was lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and dessert on the first day, breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and dessert on the second day and breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea with parents on the third day.

There were multiple music practices a day with rehearsals for all the different bands. Plus many fun camp activities including a selection of low ropes course, flying fox, archery, fuse beads, games room, reptiles, crate climb and candle making. Like all camps I can tell you there were more than one cabin that stayed up past 10pm (which was lights out but shhh~). On the first night there was games night which was really fun, it started with everybody being split up into four teams and then the winning team’s competitors competed against each other leaving one winner. On the second night there was a talent show with multiple amazing entries, some were silly and crazy while others were touching and beautiful and a winner being chosen at the end. Everyone had so much fun with the dancing, singing and partying at the end of the night! On the final afternoon, Saturday, parents came to pick up their kids and watched a concert of amazing performances of all the bands. 

A huge thank you to all of the amazing teachers that volunteered to take us on this wonderful experience and thank you to all of the helpful and kind camp staff.
