Healesville Sanctuary was not just educational in extending our knowledge in STEM, but
also to using the design process to help solve real world problems, exploring current solutions, and coming up with our own. As well as exploring the sanctuary, we focused on the tiny Leadbeater’s Possum, and equally small, Orange-Bellied Parrot, one of two migratory parrots in Australia. Both animals are critically endangered, and both can be helped with nest boxes, which we investigated. One of the main highlights of the day was the Spirit of the Sky show with amazing but cheeky birds.
