Welcome Back

Welcome back to school and Term 3. I hope that everyone had an opportunity to rest and recharge as we settle into Term 3, which will prove to be a very busy term!

This term is jam-packed with a number of camps, overnight, evening and day experiences taking place. Year 2 head to ScienceWorks this week and our Year 6 cohort travels to Mount Hotham for Ski Camp next week. Later in the term, we have our Year 1 Camp Experience evening, our Year 4 are off to Allambee Camp (Positive Start Camp free of charge), and our Year 5 travel to Falls Creek in Week 9 for their Ski Camp. Our Prep students also celebrate 100 days at school on Friday 29th July.

Other events this term include celebrating NAIDOC Week (last week) and Book Week, and our JSRC has also organised a PJ Day on Friday 5th August. Please keep an eye out on Compass and future newsletters for more information on each of these events.

Kiss and Go Zone

As you know, last week we introduced our new ‘Kiss and Go’ zone. We are pleased to say the initial implementation of this was a huge success. Thank you to those families who have offered feedback on the ‘Kiss and Go’ zone. We will monitor this closely over the next month and may make some amendments to ensure we are operating these zones as safely as we can for our school community. Please see below as to how to use the ‘Kiss and Go’ zone.

We would like to send our congratulations and warm wishes to Eve and Jarrod as they welcomed baby Summer into the world on 17.07.2022. Both Eve and Summer are doing well, settling in at home. We are excited to welcome yet another addition to our NMPS family.

 New Campus Update

Our new North Melbourne Primary School campus will have a Kindergarten for three and four-year-old children on level five. It will have two rooms that open up onto outdoor learning areas and play spaces.

If you have children that turn three by 30 April 2023 (three-year-old Kindergarten) or four by 30 April 2023 (four-year-old Kindergarten) and are interested in Kindergarten for 2023 please contact the NMPS front office to register your Expression of Interest on 03 9329 6902.

Please note that the Kindergarten will operate independently of NMPS and will have a separate management team.  Currently, DET is reviewing submissions for the operation of this new Kindergarten; once an Operator is formerly appointed, they will be in direct contact with those who have submitted Expressions of Interest.

Building works are progressing well with internal painting underway and  wall, framing, sheeting and steel structure installation throughout the levels are moving closer to completion. The staircases, connecting the five levels, are also beginning to take shape. Services installation throughout the levels are ongoing and are getting prepped  to begin the roof pour for the gymnasium.
