Term 4 Week 2
My Time Our Place
Our current program focus is ‘Space’. The aim of this program is for the children to be able to utilise processes such as investigation and inquiry to build on and expand on their current ideas and beliefs. This will be done through a variety of engaging and hands-on activities and experiences.
Vacation Care
This Vacation Care the children went on 3 excursions and had 3 visitors come and visit the service.
The 3 excursions included:
- Semaphore Cinema
- Pumpt
- AFL Max
AFL Max was extremely popular and the service will include AFL Max into our next holiday program.
The visitors that came to the service included:
‘Get Active’ fitness fun
FoodToons Cartooning workshop
Games 2 U
On our in-days the children spent time:
On technology
Making and decorating cupcakes
Participating in an OSHC Olympics
Playing games of outdoor cricket
Creating a range of arts and crafts such as paper bookmarks, feathered corner covers and chatterboxes!
Sprout
The service will begin trialling the new Sprout menu during Term 4. Please ensure you check the menu for the week on the display board outside the OSHC room. If you have any further queries regarding the menu feel free to email or call the service. If your child/children have any specific food preferences please ensure you provide other meals or snacks to the service for your child. Please see attached week 2 menu.
Pupil Free & School Closure Days
Please be aware that the school has a School Closure day on Friday 8th November & pupil free day on Monday 11th November, which is in week 4 & 5 of Term 4. We are asking parents to notify the service as soon as possible should you require our service for those two days. For those parents who expressed interest of care for those days, no cancellations will be accepted after Friday 25th October. Parents will be notified if the service will be operating on the 4th November. Please see attached letter regarding pupil free day & School Closure day.
October Vacation Care Newsletter
The October Vacation Care Newsletter is now available online and from the OSHC room. Please see attachments.
OSHC Garden
During the school holidays the children and an educator spent time in the OSHC garden planting new in season produce! The children planted cucumbers,tomatoes,capsicums, sunflowers and herbs which we hope to use in the new Sprout menu.
Active After School
If our Educators have not been notified by parents/caregivers that their children are participating in active after school they will be unable to leave the service. If your child is going to attend an after school activity please notify the service in advance. (Parents please remind your children to go to OSHC before going to active after school).
Absentees
A reminder to all parents and caregivers to contact the service on 8443 5308 if their child/ren are no longer attending their sessions or have been collected early from school. If your child/ren are booked in for that day and do not come to the OSHC service prior to their after school activity the service will follow our protocol of contacting parents, if parents cannot be contacted the police will be called.
