Update from the Buildings and Grounds Sub-Committee
School Council sends our best wishes to the Chelt.Sec community. We hope everyone is keeping safe and well. If you need support at this time, please contact the College.
Congratulations to the entire cast and crew on the success of Grease the musical. The college and extended community is buzzing with the amazing show you put on for us.
Buildings and Grounds update
We are lucky at Chelt.Sec to have some generous spaces including two big playing fields. But some of the buildings and grounds are definitely in need of renewal. School Council and school staff are engaged in an improvement program for the buildings, grounds and facilities to create the environment our students deserve.
Recent initiatives include:
Thanks to those who have contributed to these projects; state government support, a grant obtained by one of our College Captains, and generous voluntary contributions from parents.
Next: more work on the Community Garden, a significant upgrade for the Junior School Village (watch this space for concept drawings coming soon!) and a review of outdoor learning spaces.
The Buildings and Grounds sub-committee members are; Andrew Hall, Susannah Bowen-Wheatley (parent members), Karl Russell, Peter Allan (school) and Sahil Kumar (student co-op).
About School Council
Every government school has a council. School Council participates in the development and monitoring of the school’s strategic plan and school policy and plays an important role in overseeing the school’s financial operations and budget. School Council members are drawn from students, parents, the Department of Education and the community. Chelt.Sec’s School Council includes sub-committees; Student Services, Education Policy, Engagement and Communication, Building and Grounds and Finance.
How can you help?
Ongoing financial support from our families assists the College in offering the best support for your students, including facilities and infrastructure. The list of works (above) that have taken place this year has come from both parent contributions and grants (government or otherwise).
