From the Principal

I would like to firstly thank the students and parents for making sure all our students are dressed appropriately for the cooler weather. Although our rooms are heated, we do try to get the students outside as much as possible, so this includes days that are cooler.  We would like parents and students to know that we have a growing collection of school jumpers in our lost property that have no names. If your child is missing a school jumper, please feel free to pop into the office and have a look.

NAPLAN for Year 3 students concluded last week, with a few make up assessments happening this week. Our Year 5 students are working hard this week to complete their assessment. All students have tried their best, and that is all we ask from them. This year has been different than previous years, with the majority of assessments being completed on computers. Our students have adapted well to this new process.

Next week, teachers will be commencing our fortnight of assessments with all students. These are just learning tasks that they would normally be involved in, however, we use the results from these tasks to inform our report writing. Reports will be coming home at the end of Term.

This Friday, we have 4 students taking part in the Division Cross Country in Ballarat. These girls have been training hard, running with Mr Ward and Miss Feely at lunch times. We wish them all the best for their day.

Next Tuesday, we have a large number of 5/6 students (and a few 3/4's) taking part in the Winter Sports program in Ballarat. Notes regarding this have been sent home with interested students. Please note the day change from Thursday 26th to Tuesday 24th. I apologise for this miscommunication.

Last Term, teachers were asked to send out weekly emails to all parents informing them of the learning that takes place in the classroom. These emails were written to help parents understand the learning focuses for the week. This term, I have made the decision to have teachers send these emails fortnightly, on the opposite week to the newsletter. The newsletter is where parents will see examples of student learning, hear about achiements and other important information. We believe this balance is much more sustainable for the remainder of the year.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge and thank our wonderful Education Support (ES) staff. Today we held a lovely morning tea to show our appreciation for the work they do to help support all our students in the classroom.  Their contributions are invaluable.
