FIELD EVENT TRIALS

This term we have been lucky enough to have gained a Sporting Schools Grant for athletics. We will be having Jay Strong come into the school. Jay is a coach for Athletics Australia. He will be teaching all the children different athletics techniques such as running, long jump and high jump. He will be coming on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons so some classes may need to wear their sports uniform on a different day. Please see your class Facebook page and Compass notifications for these changes.

NATIONAL PRIMARY GAMES

St Nicholas is taking EOI for students who are interested in playing at the National Primary Games in the following sports: Soccer, Netball & Rugby League. More detailed information will be distributed closer to the date, however, in order to commit to entering a team we are investigating numbers early on. Often your winter club will enter a team (especially soccer and rugby league).  If your child is interested in representing St. Nicholas School in the National Primary Games please email Mrs Belinda Tyrrell (btyrrell@arm.catholic.edu.au) to register their interest.

My child, __________ is interested in representing St. Nicholas at the National Primary Games on 16/17 July 2022  in the sport of ______________. If you are able to help out with coaching a team could you please indicate this too.

The National Primary Games (NPG) is a unique Sports Carnival for girls and boys aged 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14, representing their school, sports club or sports association in teams of all levels. They will compete in a feel good atmosphere against clubs and schools from all regions including the presence of high level guest athletes over the weekend.

This year the National Primary Games will be held in Tamworth on the 16 and 17 July 2022. (The last weekend of the holidays) This event will be hosted by NIAS and supported by the Australian Olympic Committee. The aim of the National Primary Games is to bring young players across all different sports together in the spirit of sportsmanship and enthusiasm.

Cost: There is a team entry fee so costing will be split across the sports. This cost will be given to parents when teams are entered. It will include a cap and entry fees. Students are only allowed to enter one sport.
