TERM 2 - WEEK 5

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK

On Monday, St Nicholas School joined with over 600 Catholic schools in New South Wales to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. Catholic Schools Week is an important annual celebration of what makes Catholic schools the best choice for so many students and their families.

The 2022 Catholic Schools Week theme, “Our Hope-filled Future”, echoes our system’s vision: A Christ-centred inclusive learning community that supports young people to realise a hope-filled future.

So what does a hope filled future look like for our students?:

As an educator I am proud to work in Catholic Education. As a parent I am thankful my children are receiving a Catholic Education. To all our parents, I thank you for trusting the St Nicholas School community to partner with you in formally educating your child.

STUDENT ATTENDANCE

On the 19th May I wrote to parents on the link between attendance and young people to realising a hope-filled future. I requested all parents continue to work in partnership with the school around the consistent attendance of their child.

From Monday 30th May, I will be writing to parents asking for support where there have been attendance concerns in the previous week.

Thank you for helping to maximise your child’s potential by ensuring their attendance at school is a priority.

STUDENT LED LEARNING CONFERENCES

A reminder that Student Led Learning Conferences will take place between the 6th and 17th June. In the general news tab of this newsletter you will find details on how to book from tomorrow (27th May). Below is a short video St Nicholas staff have put together to help educate our parents in the Student Led Learning Conference process.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS STRIKE

As per correspondence to parents, due to industrial action, St Nicholas Primary School will be unable to operate as usual tomorrow. St Nicholas School will only be able to offer minimal supervision to students.

Student attendance rates will not be affected if parents decide to keep their child at home tomorrow.

PANCAKE DAY

An enormous thank you to the McMullen family and St Nicholas School PT&F for coordinating this wonderful opportunity for our students. An opportunity which also raised $782.45 for the local St Vincent de Paul's Winter Appeal, who were most grateful for the donation.

Thank you also to the many families who created batter used for the pancakes.

Have a wonderful week.

John Clery
