INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

‘The Art of Jam’ Workshop

On Tuesday 31 May, a range of our intermediate Instrumental Music students participated in a workshop facilitated by professional jazz group, ‘Poet Street’.

Small groups worked in sectionals on 2 pieces of music before coming together for a jam session and gig. for family and friends in the evening.

The workshop explored improvisation techniques, fundamental to jazz and gave students the opportunity to extend their repertoire in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Congratulations to everyone involved, with a special thank you to our Instrumental Music teachers Emma, Malcolm and Kizzy and Performing Arts Captains, Willow and Sian.

Mid-Year Concert

Thursday 16 June @ 6.30 pm

We are busy preparing for our mid-year extravaganza where our bigger bands and ensembles will perform for family and friends in the PAC Theatre.

All of our Instrumental Music students are encouraged to be involved in this spectacular showcase, particularly as performance opportunities have been a bit thin on the ground during the 2 years of remote learning.

Students are reminded to check Compass News Feed for changes to rehearsal times, in the lead-up to the concert.

Making Waves

The Melbourne Recital Centre are running some free workshops for students who are interested in composition. The workshops are designed for VCE students, however all budding composers are welcome to attend.

See Ms Goode or visit melbournerecital.com.au for more workshop details.
