Fill the Earths Bucket!

This term, the Juniors are focusing on how to fill the Earth’s bucket, a very important concept to keep the Earth and all the things on it healthy and happy.

This week we have been doing a range of things to help fill the Earth’s bucket!

In NF, they have been busy decorating the buckets for our school wide bucket filing initiative.

We then drew a map of the school and each class went around to mark where they found the most rubbish in our yard.

After we detected where the most rubbish was, each class then collected some rubbish in their beautiful buckets. In AH, we were only out there for 10 minutes and we collected 180 pieces of rubbish! We worked out that if all the Junior students held one piece of the rubbish we collected, we would still have almost 80 pieces of rubbish left over!!!

After we collected and sorted our rubbish, we then measured it to see how long it was. Some of us discovered that the amount of rubbish we collected was longer than our bodies!!!

We then took action by writing some persuasive pieces to try and convince the BNW students to put their rubbish in the bin!

The Junior school will continue to investigate ways to explore the Earth’s bucket this term. Small things you could do to help include trying to bring nude food, using the correct bins when throwing out rubbish and collecting your clothes from lost property. Even though they’re small, they will make a huge difference to the Earth’s bucket!
