Week 5 News

It's incredible to think we are already half way through Term 2!

We are all looking forward to the mid-term break and some extra time with families. If you would like to meet with your child's teachers, please do not hesitate to contact the front office and book an appointment for parent interviews scheduled for Thursday 2nd of June prior to the closed weekend.

With the cooler weather we are seeing students add extra layers - please remember to ensure that all jumpers, vests and jackets are school uniform only.

ESTs

A huge congratulations to all of our Year 12 General students who completed their EST's over the past three weeks.  Your results have been uploaded to Reporting to Parents and can be viewed in Connect.  Whilst this is a key component of your overall assessment, please remember that it is only one of many opportunities to demonstrate your learning and we still have a number of assignments, projects, investigations and tests that you can use to improve your overall mark.

Exams

Our Year 11 and 12 ATAR exams are scheduled for next week.  During this time, the Rec Centre will be out-of-bounds for all students; please be mindful of the session times so that students remain uninterrupted.  During the afternoon periods, ATAR students may return to their rooms for private study or attend tutoring sessions.

PE Studies

The Year 11 and 12 Physical Education Studies General course contributes to students having a well-rounded concept on what it means to be healthy and active within the sporting community. It promotes students to take a holistic approach to their wellbeing through the integration of social, emotional, and physical health. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on students to grow their understanding of performance as a multifaceted concept and therefore improve their performance in all physical activities.

This term, the Physical Education students have been completing fitness testing for their exercise physiology units. A huge congratulations to all students on their participation in these practical classes! A special mention to Codan Daddow who is currently holding the school record for the beep test, with a score of 15.1.

Using these results for their partners, the Year 11's are assessing the individual’s fitness profile in comparison to the sports they play and what areas they could improve on to enhance their performance in their chosen sport.

The Year 12's have taken the results of a partner and applied their knowledge to creating an individual specific training program for their partner to implement in the gym and assess the results at the end of the term.

Coming up later in the term, the Year 11 and 12 girls at the College have been invited to participate in the West Coast Fever School Cup. We have three teams entered to go and spend the day playing against other high schools from the Wheatbelt in Northam. If there are any parents interesting in coming down to watch, the competition starts at 9am at the Northam Recreation Centre and will conclude by 2.45pm on Thursday June 23rd.
