Chirnside Week

Week 4, beginning Monday 16th May is Chirnside Week. The week will encourage students to demonstrate their house spirit and providing a range of activities for students to participate in. These activities include; a volleyball competition, scavenger hunt, wear a touch of the rainbow to recognise IDAHOBIT, a gaming competition and a dress-up day. Students should keep an eye on the bulletin next week for details.

Uniform

The last few days have been freezing cold and we have noticed uniform slip as a result. Whilst we appreciate the need for student to keep warm in cold weather, it is important that they are wearing correct uniform. We offer multiple options for students to layer and keep warm; long sleeved shirts, jumpers & jackets. Students may also wear plain white or black t-shirts under their school shirts. Hoodies and non TSC jackets are not allowed to be worn by any student, even if a note comes from home. Please ensure that your child has the appropriate uniform. House offices will have a limited supply of uniform that will be loaned to student who are consistently out of uniform. If loaned items are not returned in a clean and undamaged condition the cost of the item will be charged to the student’s accounts. If anyone needs support with uniform, please talk to the Wellbeing Team or Pastoral Care teacher.

Informing our Students

TSC is committed to ensuring that students receive educational experiences that extend beyond the curriculum. This term students will participate in a number of sessions that will educate them about…

These include:

So You Know – a presentation by Victoria Police to provide an understanding of  public order offending (groups & gangs), assaults (including one-punch assaults), sexual assaults, weapons, violence based offences (robbery, armed robbery, manslaughter & murder), legal consequences and the assistance available.

These sessions wil take place on:

Thursday 19th May for all Year 10 students from 2:15pm – 3:15pm

Thursday 9th June for all Year 11 students from 12pm – 1pm

Thursday 9th June for all Year 12 students during Pastoral Care.

Drop the knife, save a life – presented by Youth Activating Youth this session aims to educate young people around the risks involved in carrying weapons and encourages them to think beyond the moment. This presentation is part of our ongoing involvement with the team from Youth Activating Youth. Joel Musa and Hanad Hersi will be regulars at TSC coming most Thursdays to engage students and offer community supports.

Respectful Relationships – facilitated by Pastoral Care teachers, Respectful Relationships aims to promote and model respect, positive attitudes and behaviours. It teaches our children how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence.
