SENIOR SCHOOL NEWS

Senior Sub School Manager

 

It has been lovely to see our senior students at school and see them engaging with friends and the wider student group. This reflects our positive start to the resumption of face to face teaching and learning for our students. Thank you to all the students, parents, families and teachers who have assisted with this transition.

 

We are approaching the end of Semester One and students are busy completing assessment tasks and course work.  Students are encouraged to approach teachers for extra support and clarification if needed. 

 

There will be progress reports for VCE students next week.

VET

It is essential that all students attend VET. Students have been advised about the return to face to face learning for each VET and are expected to attend. VET is an essential part of a student’s Senior Years Program and contributes to the overall VCAL or VCE Certificate.

 

A VCAL student is only able to obtain a Foundation Certificate if they do not pass a VET course. Students and parents are liable for the cost of the VET Course, regardless of attendance and withdrawal.

Year 12

Advanced notice of Graduation. Graduation will be held on Thursday, 29 October 2020 at The Pier (Geelong Waterfront).  Tickets will be $100 per head for parents/carers and students. At this stage, due to Covid restrictions, we are unsure of the number of tickets we will be able to issue per student. We are aiming for five per student, as in previous years. Tickets will go on sale in September. Please start planning for this, as it is a wonderful event that celebrates the end of time at NGSC .

ISP

Students are reminded that they must show ISP cards and sign in and out at the Senior Sub School Office. When students arrive at school they must remain on the premises until they sign out, or until the end of the school day, due to safety reasons.

Year 11 - Purchase of Year 12 Jumpers for 2021

Students will be asked for input to design the 2021 Year 12 Jumper during Term Three. Please be aware that the jumper will cost approximately between $80-$100 and will need to be paid for at the time of the final order. More information to be sent out next Term.

VSL

Face to face classes resume on 13 June, 2020.

 

Students and parents are reminded that rules in place due to Covid-19 are the same at the VSL as for weekday schools.

  • Any student who is feeling unwell must remain at home.
  • Sanitiser and table wipes will be available and extra cleaning has been arranged.
  • There will be no option for purchasing snacks at recess so it is very important students bring their own snacks and a bottle of water from home. Students may not share food with others.
  • There will be no sharing of resources; please make sure you have your own stationery, etc.
  • Students who are late arrivals or early leavers will need a note from the parent/guardian. All other communication must be via phone.
  • A further reminder that Year 12 students have commenced their extended hours and finish at 1:00 pm. All other students continue with the same hours finishing at 12:15 pm.
