JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS

Ms Lauren Edmunds

Year 7 Coordinator

We are now in our last week of remote learning, Next week on Tuesday, 9 June, we return to onsite learning. I know I can speak for everyone in the Junior Sub-School office when I say, we are all so excited to have you back on-site. Whilst remote learning has been an interesting and fun adventure and I must add, one that the Junior students have embraced so well, it will be great to see all of your smiling faces again.

Whilst I am sure as soon as we are all back it will feel like we never left. Most things are the same, but there have been some changes to the way we operate at NGSC. To answer some questions you may have:

  • Bus services will operate as normal.
  • Home group will be running as normal so head there to start the day.
  • Full school uniform will be expected as usual.
  • Breakfast club is still operating but students will be expected to get their food and leave the kitchen to reduce large numbers gathered in one place.
  • Phones must still remain in your locker for the duration of the day.
  • The canteen will be open but social distancing will be practised. Order your food then step back from the counter until it is ready.
  • BYO water bottle to refill, drink taps are not to be used.
  • Student Wellbeing is still accessible
  • You must provide all of your own materials, staff can not lend or give out any due to Covid-19 regulations.

Returning to school will present a range of challenges to all, it is important that we continue to support each other in this transition back to school as we did during and into the transition to remote learning. It is also critical that we use these remaining days to start getting back into a good routine and ensuring we get enough sleep, so that when the alarm goes off earlier (as we are travelling further) we are waking up refreshed and ready for learning.

We look forward to seeing you all back and hearing about your isolation stories.
