Visual Arts Faculty
Welcome back to all our students! What a fun and challenging time we have faced over the last couple of months of remote learning. We all hope you have continued your passion and commitment to everything arts. It has been lovely to see the amazing resilience in students from all year levels. Mr McCabe continued working on realism through tonal drawings of seashells with his Year 8s. Each student was using Google Meet to keep up to date with the work, which allowed for instant one to one feedback. Mr Emmett was continuing his work with the Year 10 students on their Spiritual Art project.
Many face to face discussions were had and supplies being dropped off to students in order to support their learning remotely. A detailed process was undertaken by the students from looking at artists for inspiration, generating ideas and constructing a final artwork. This was supported through the use of annotations and teacher/student feedback. Year 9 students worked through weekly observational drawing skills with a strong focus on developing their manual drawing abilities to demonstrate their understanding of tonal rendering.
Ms Campos worked with Year 10 students on their packaging design for T2. Students worked through a process prior to COVID-19 of researching and generating ideas using coloured pencils and watercolours. Students then began working digitally using Adobe Illustrator. Students' final presentations have been put on display in the library. Tutorials and online resources have been a strong focus in support the boys during these difficult times. Year 9 digital arts students faced a weekly #LEGOCHALLENGE inspired by daily activities. Students covered themes such as isolation, adventure, sport and many others. Lots of their work has been put up on display around the classroom. We are all very proud of the achievements and successes of each student in the visual arts area. We are very excited to have the students back and continue face to face teaching. Please enjoy the images of some work that was created during our time away from Mazenod College.
