From the Executive

The school year has certainly been tipped upside down and the usual events such as ACC sporting fixtures, midyear exams and performing arts have either had to wait or are being held in alternative formats. As we continue to head into the unknown in terms of restrictions and continually determine what can happen in a safe manner we thank you for your patience. Hopefully in the coming weeks there will be more clarity and therefore we can plan the second half of the year and try and resume, where possible some activities. In these times it has been like writing a playbook for a game that has never been played before there has been no script to refer to as we develop processes and procedures to adapt to the pandemic.

It was great to see the Year 7-10 students back at school this week after a long period of remote learning. They seemed genuinely happy to be back and have settled quickly into routine and are adapting well to some of the changes in organization such as split lunchtimes, reduced access to lockers, restricted school hours and hand washing/sanitizing. While these are inconvenient at the moment hopefully the measures will assist in maintaining a healthy and safe environment for all in the community. Please see a link to the college protocol for unwell staff and students during COVID developed by our Nurses. Also the immunizations scheduled for Year 10 on the 23rd June have been rescheduled to Wednesday 21st October.

The welfare team at the college have been closely monitoring students during remote learning and now that they have returned understand that while some students flourished others found it extremely challenging. Also we are aware that some students will have concerns returning to school for a variety of reasons. Please contact your son’s year level coordinator if you have any concerns as we transition back to teaching and learning at school so that we can work together to best support your son.
