Inquiry Centre

Curriculum

A week of wild and wacky weather but overall a fantastic week had by all. We have adjusted back to the school routine. Thank you to all parents and carers supporting the entry and exit points. As senior school is returning to school on Tuesday All 1/2 classes with entering and exiting from Car Park 1 ( near Kinder).

In Numeracy, we explored addition strategies, starting the week with Bridging to 10 and playing ‘Power Up’. Next up was writing simple addition stories and using an open number line to model the adding. We played ‘4 in a Row’ an activity from SeeSaw to practise adding two numbers together, we recorded the sum and solved the sum using vertical addition. This week our focus will be subtraction.

In Literacy, we began to discuss and search rhyming words, students read through a range of nursery rhymes to find rhyming patterns. We also identified and sorted parts of speech- Nouns, verbs and adjectives. This linked in very well with Writing as we were focusing on poetry. We began the week developing a rhyming word bank, next we wrote couplets and creating a ‘Pop Poetry’ poem about the cold weather.  We then went on to explore and write quatrain poem using an AABB or ABAB pattern of rhyming. We will further develop our poetry writing this week again! It has been a lot of fun !

In Wellbeing we held a circle time discussion to talk about our inner coach and how they can support themselves and also use kind words to motivate others as well.

Thank  you again for another fantastic and productive week!

Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and we look forward to another incredible week in the inquiry centre!
