Mabo Day

Today marks the end of National Reconciliation Week with June the 3rd being Mabo Day. Mabo Day commemorates the courageous efforts of Eddie Koiki Mabo to overturn the fiction of terra nullius (land belonging to no-one), the legal concept that Australia and the Torres Strait Islands were not owned by Indigenous peoples because they did not ‘use’ the land in ways Europeans believed constituted legal possession.

Kinross Wolaroi School has begun developing its Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which is a formal statement of our School's commitment to reconciliation supported by a plan for implementing reconciliation initiatives. Our Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group will include teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, students and community members.

Lip Sync Battle

In the Senior School, the ‘Lip Sync Battle’ continues. This is occurring two-fold; students can submit individual entries, and we have also begun a group competition amongst the houses to generate some excitement for our House Spectacular scheduled (digitally) for Week 9.

Below you can view some of the fantastic submissions that we have received so far.
