These fine young men of John XXIII College embraced the opportunity to learn on-the-job skills and experience the trades of carpentry, painting and bricklaying at North Metropolitan TAFE last week.

College of Electrical Training

The College of Electrical Training (CET) is now seeking expressions of interest from candidates for the 2021 Certificate II Electrotechnology Pre-Apprenticeship In School Program (Year 10 & 11 students) and a 2020 Certificate II Electrotechnology Pre-Apprenticeship In School Program (current Year 11 students only).

Women in Engineering Training Scholarships

29 May Applications close - all ages opportunity

Women who are interested in alternative pathways to uni or those returning to paid employment may find this engineering pathway of interest. 

 

The scholarships aim to foster an understanding of career opportunities in the oil and gas, mining or chemical processing industries.  Participants will:

  • Develop technical and practical skills
  • Learn foundation engineering design principals, technology and practices
  • Assist students with a pathway to employment or higher-level qualifications

Students benefit from a supportive, applied learning environment and access to female role models.  There are 14 fully-funded scholarships available for these courses which will be run through South Metro TAFE.

Year 12 students: Reminder about Early Offers from our Universities

 

Notre Dame Early Offers Program closes 30 June

Notre Dame’s Early Offer Program is open to Year 12 students who have demonstrated academic excellence and/or are making a significant contribution to their school or community.

For 2021, an assessment will be made based on Year 10 and Year 11 results, and any available Year 12 reports, as well as a recommendation from the school. Please note there will be no admissions interviews in 2020.

Murdoch Applications 

Predicted ATAR from Year 11 or Year 12 Results

 

Year 12 students, graduating at the end of 2020, will be able to apply to undergraduate courses at Murdoch University using their Year 11 or recent Year 12 ATAR subject results. 

Applicants who meet the course entry requirements will be granted early and unconditional offers issued by the University on a rolling basis from the date of application.

 

Whether prospective students apply to Murdoch under the Year 12 Uni Entry Safety Net or using their final ATAR results, they will be equally considered and admitted if they meet the course entry requirements.

 

The Year 12 Uni Entry Safety Net is not a replacement for the standard pathway. 

Students who are on the recognised pathway to Murdoch can apply through TISC which is now open to enrolments for 2021. Students who apply

Alternative pathways

There is more than one pathway to Curtin. Your students might be eligible for alternative pathways including portfolio entrybridging courses or the newly created Access Curtin

TISC applications

Curtin has worked with TISC to open applications from 18 May 2020, so that year 12 students can apply early and then focus on their studies.Acknowledging that it’s been a difficult year financially for many people, we’re also refunding the TISC application fee. Any applicant who applies to TISC before 1 October with Curtin as their first preference, and who receives and accepts an offer will have their application fee refunded.

ECU Early Offers

ECU is open for early offers now. 

To be considered for an early offer you need to meet the following conditions:

  • Be a Year 12 student and have a predicted ATAR (or Year 11 results you can share with us)

OR

  • Be a Year 12 student currently completing a Certificate IV at school or through a recognised training provider

University of Western Australia

The UWA Schools Engagement team has put together a helpful webpage containing videos and resources that explain the UWA course model, course information and the new Year 12 entry pathways. This webpage is being continually updated, so be sure to keep checking to receive the latest information for future students.

July Tuition and Revision Programs

Most organisations that provide out of school tuition have added online classes to their services. Many year 12s do extra study during the July holidays. 

 

If you haven’t already enrolled, these are some of the providers in Perth. 

These providers also do OLNA and NAPLAN revision programs. 

 

Master Mind Australia will be running online courses and face to face courses at Guildford Grammar School, Christ Church Grammar School and Methodist Ladies’ College, Hale School, Ashdale Senior College and Quinns Baptist College.

 

Academic Task Force has added a new online service to their extensive range of support. They employ specialist teachers who work with students showing them how to apply what they have learnt at school, how to prepare for their exams and how to maximise their exam performance. ATARget ATAR Revision, ATAR Exam Preparation and Study Skills programs focus on strengthening students’ understanding of subjects, boosting classroom confidence and improving examination performance.
