Winter Sport Trials
As was stated in last week’s Especean, the resumption of sport for the Senior school commences this week with winter trials. The schedule was made available last week and can be found on Team App. Trial schedules for Weeks 7 and 8 will be published via Team App and the fixtures link on the College website by 11.00am Thursday morning.
Like every year, the initial selections may appear flawed to some. In an unprecedented year, the MIC’s and coaches will do their best to ensure that the process is as rigorous and equitable as possible given the current climate in which we find ourselves. Trials will continue to follow the College’s Resumption of Co-curricular policy until government restrictions ease to a point where training can resume in its full capacity.
It would be known that in previous years, the College arranges fixtures as an extension of the trial process. This year, in principle, the College is scheduled to play Trinity Grammar for the Black and Green Shield on Saturday 27 June (first day of the holidays) in Rugby, Football and Tennis. We will continue to plan our best to provide students the opportunity to be adequately prepared for this fixture pending government restrictions. We will know closer to the date whether this round of fixtures will go ahead or not. That said, I ask that you please make note if additional internal trials are required, students are to make themselves available on Saturday 20 June.
Quite often with the change of season, inclement weather comes. There may be cancellations to some trial sessions in the coming weeks. I remind you that should trial/training sessions be cancelled; a notice will be placed on Team App by 2.45pm.
There is also the possibility of some Rugby and Football teams playing traditional fixtures in the second and third week of the holidays. More information will be provided to families in the coming weeks.
