COVID 19 School Emergency Management Plan

As we move into our last two weeks of the term we have all welcomed the return to face to face classes and enjoyed reconnecting with colleagues and students. However, we are acutely aware that without a vaccine there may still be confirmed cases of COVID 19 within the community. Should there be a confirmed case of COVID 19 within our College community we will enact our COVID 19 School Emergency Management Plan. This plan will ensure an orderly and safe dismissal of all staff and students and the resumption of Remote Learning. It is important that parents, guardians, caregivers and students are fully acquainted with the details and procedures of this plan. Please click the link below to access the full details of the communication you will receive should the school be notified of a confirmed case of COVID 19 by the Department of Health and Human Services. This plan outlines the communication and procedures to follow should we receive the confirmation of a COVID 19 case during school hours. If we receive the notification outside of school hours such as the weekend, then a similar notification will be sent however it will not detail the dismissal of students from the campus. In both cases the College will return to the Remote Learning Model until we have had clearance from the Department of Health and Human Services to resume face to face classes.

COVID 19 School Emergency Management Plan

There is power in knowledge as it prevents fear and ensures a calm and measured response to those situations which are both challenging and unclear. I urge you to read this Plan thoroughly and discuss with your child. House Leaders and Learning Advisors are well versed in this plan and will provide great guidance and support to their students as we all learn to adapt to our new way of living with COVID 19.

Whilst this continues to be a challenging time for the community, there are many resources available to support us, none more so that those offered by the City of Casey. I have included a direct link to such resources for your convenience and information link for support and COVID 19

Student Leadership is flourishing

Our College captains do a wonderful job in leading the many aspects of the College, as do our House Captains. This week I would like to mention Emily and Deng, House Captains of Augustine House who took it upon themselves to run a small workshop with the junior students. The critical focus of the workshop was expectations of self and others. The two slides included below are simple but powerful messages which generate great conversation between the juniors and their captains. Leadership is about not only caring for others but challenging people to be better, to want better and expect better of themselves and others. A great initiative and I look forward to seeing the impact of this workshop on our Augustine students.

The Rocks

Marian House ROCKS the ROCKS during the pastoral period this week.

Marian House students have led the way in adopting the positive behaviours required to fully live the ROCKS at St. Peter's College.

Their display makes it very easy all students entering the Marian House Space to know what it means to be:

R - respectful

O - organisation

C - collaboration

K - kind

S - safety

Well done Marian House.

I wish you all a safe and productive week.
